House Keeping 3/21/18

So, that second review didn’t happen. I’m sorry about that. There were a couple of rough days at work and then I wound up having to get my car checked out. Fun times, fun times. But that’s mostly dealt with and the last bit I’ll be trying to get taken care of later this week.

That all said, I am going to be late with my review this week as well. I’m not nearly as prepared as I would like just at the moment. Working on it though.

Also, the fourth Answer the Call comic is set to come out this week, so barring anything going wrong I should have a review of that up sometime late this week too. It’s going into the final stretch so I’m really curious about what the big bad’s plan is and just what Holtzmann’s machine is meant to do, aside from scrambling eggs.

Aside from that, there’s still time to enter the Second Star Books lifetime subscription giveaway. You can find that here. If you missed my previous post about them, that’s here. I’m as excited about this as I was that book bundle, possibly more so.

And that’s that for this rather late house keeping post. I’m a bit out of sorts lately, but that’s manageable and I’m figuring out what to do about it. If you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. If you really like what I’m doing here you can always feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. Either way, enjoy!

So, Spring Forward happened. Luckily my phone auto reset the clock for it. Unluckily I’d already set my alarm for an hour earlier than I usually do because my old phone was always a week or so behind. It was a great morning.

I can’t complain too much though. Hopefully the weather will get to where it is regularly warm enough that I can put my sage and basil out without killing either of them.

On to book related things though! It turns out that I messed up a little last week with my scheduling. There was a book that I’d meant to post but then wires got crossed and I got tired and fun stuff all around. But it means there’s going to be two reviews this week. One on Wednesday as standard and the other on either Friday or Saturday, depending on how work goes.

I’ve also got another reminder about that Second Star Books giveaway. I’m super excited for it and want to pass that excitement on to you all. So, here’s the link again.

And in other news, I am once again trying to work up some extra content for around here. Who knows if it’ll pan out, certainly not me, but for whatever reason I’m feeling really excited to try something these past few days. I don’t know what it is, but I want to see how far I can take it.

Then, of course, the standard stuff. If you like what I’m doing here you can leave a like or a comment. If you really like what I’m doing here, you can also help support my caffeine addiction and buy me a coffee. That’s it for now. Enjoy!

House Keeping 3/6/18

You know, I just realized that the month and day multiply into the year today. It’s a bit of a random thought, but it amuses me greatly.

Anyway, I’m going to post more about this later in the week, but I wanted to let you all know about it now while it’s fresh in my mind. There’s a new monthly book box starting up soon, Second Star Books. To celebrate they’re doing a fantastic giveaway leading up to April first when they officially open their doors. One lucky human will receive a lifetime subscription to Second Star Books. That’s one book by a new author, a second book that matches the theme of the first, a candle chosen to go with, and some awesome swag related to the theme for the month. You can enter through this link.

Aside from that, I don’t have a lot to go into. Review will be up tomorrow. The book itself has me wondering a bit about what makes me enjoy one example of a character type versus another. I’ll want to dig into that at some point, but that’s a for later thing.

Standard stuff, if you enjoy what I’m doing here leave a like or a comment or, if you really like what I’m doing, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a coffee. I’ll see you all tomorrow. Enjoy!

House Keeping 2/27/18

I am, once again, back to a place where I can try and get a little a head of things. I’m starting to figure I sabotage myself when I hit points like this, but it’s always worth a shot. Flying by the seat of my pants isn’t any fun when I’m trying to write well.

General stuff, I think I’m going to postpone the “unlikable characters” article until I’ve finished one of the books I’m reading now. That’s going to take some time, but that was going to be the case anyway. I’m still wanting to write the articles, but keep cycling around with what I’m saying. It is a little frustrating, but work eats most of my time.

The sci-fi/fantasy HumbleBundle bundle ends tomorrow. So, if you want to try out a ton of new books and support a really cool charity, Worldbuilders, the link is here and last call is coming up.

I feel like I say the same basic things here each week, give or take an apology for being late. It’s got to get boring, but I’m not entirely sure of what else I want to and can do reliably on a weekly basis. Things to think on.

And that leaves us here, if you like what I’m doing leave a like or comment. Or, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a Ko-Fi.

I am behind on everything this week due to being mildly sick.Always fun that. So the comic review is going to wind up being later in the week rather than as I’d initially planned it. If I’ve got a handle on everything else though, the regular review should go up tomorrow followed by the comic review on Thursday. Nothing too terrible there.

As always, there’s something of a flip side to this, I’ve got a lot of stuff coming along that should be fun but it’s also going to take some working around to make it fit. Here’s to trying to get it all worked out ahead of time.

The Humble Bundle Sci-Fi/Fantasy bundle is still live for another week and change at this time. So, if you’re looking to add new books to you read list and help the Worldbuilders charity while you’re at it, you still have time. You can find it here.

I don’t have a lot else to go on here. I’ve got some stuff that I don’t really have a good time for posting just at the moment, but I suspect I’ll find a place for it when something unexpected happens. Still juggling ideas for articles or other non-review content, but not having a ton of success actually making it happen. That’s a thing to work out sooner rather than later.

Anyway, standard stuff. If you’re enjoying what I’m doing here leave a like or a comment or, if you want to, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a Ko-Fi. That’s it for this one. Enjoy!

This is late, but I have an excuse. I was stressed out Tuesday night because of Wednesday plans, those plans turned out well though so, I crashed afterward and was really glad that I’d already scheduled the review for the week. I’m still a little giddy shaky about it.

There’s a couple of blog tours coming up in the next couple months, that should be fun. I’m definitely looking forward to it at any rate.

Also, I am still going to post a review for Ghostbusters: Answer the Call #3, that got a little lost in the shuffle due to work stuff and life stuff and all that fun. It’ll be up some time early next week.

Also, also, this isn’t a standard thing for me but Humble Bundle has a book bundle going right now of Angry Robot fantasy/sci-fi novels. The base level nets you six books for as little as a dollar or you can get all the books¬† in the bundle for fifteen dollars. The bundle supports Worldbuilders, a self described geek non-profit seeking to help support humanitarian efforts world wide. You can find that bundle here. Or, if you want to check out Worldbuilders directly, that’s here too.

And, of course, if you like what I’m doing here leave a comment or a like or, if you so choose, support my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In any case, have a great weekend and enjoy!

Housekeeping 2/6/18

I don’t have a ton to talk about this week. I’ve finally gotten a planner for this year, so hopefully that’ll help me keep an handle on things here. Either way, I’m gonna keep things written down better this year. Probably.

Still trying to find words for those articles I wanted to write. At some point I’m either going to have to just sit down on my day off and do it or stop talking about them.¬† It’s one or the other and neither has happened yet.

The third Ghostbusters: Answer the Call comic comes out this week, I’m excited for that. We should be hitting the part of the story where the team over comes their fears and starts building a way to take out the bad guy. Really looking forward to seeing how that’s handled.

Standard stuff, if you enjoy what I’m doing leave a comment or, if you want to feed my caffeine adiction, you can buy me a Ko-Fi. That’s all for now, enjoy!

House Keeping 1/30/18

This has been an oddly long month and I’m not sure why. Maybe that weird time warping after the holidays where everything just drops off is to blame, maybe not. I’m kind of hoping not, because things tend to stay slow for a good while at work.

I’m still trying to get some more content built up for here. It’s going, just not as quickly as I’d like. But not quickly is still going, so I can’t be too worried. I don’t feel like I’m going to fall back into a pit anytime soon.

I feel pretty good actually. Maybe it was getting to spend a weekend with my friends and see people having fun at the con. Maybe it’s something else, but I feel like I’m moving and that’s exciting and a little terrifying. Mostly exciting.

The thing I mentioned last week with that game, Doki Doki Literature Club, makes me want to talk about methods of story telling. It’s more than a bit outside of my usual thing, so if I do wind up doing that it might be a bit rough. The game fascinates me though and I want to talk about its story and how it presents it.

I’m also wondering if I want to do something for Valentines day. It’s going to be on a Wednesday, so I’ve already got a review going up, but if anyone can think of something else I could do as well that would be pretty cool. I can think on that more as it gets closer anyway.

And, of course, if you like what I’m doing here you can feed the comment section your words or you can feed my caffeine addiction by buying me a Ko-Fi. Enjoy!

A continuation of nothing new and my job being all over the place.

I have thoughts about the Answer the Call comic compared to the 101 Ghostbusters comics. I’ll probably write something on that after the “What Dreams May Come” arc is finished.

Also, I really need to hole away and read for like a weekend. My kindle is full of stuff that’s just gathering e-dust, so that’s a thing to dig into.

Also again, I started playing Doki Doki Literature Club because I want to see what the big deal with it’s horror elements is. So, I’m not super far in and I keep pausing because I know that something is going to happen but not when or how. It is intensely frustrating in a way I don’t really know how to words about.

As standard, review is going up tomorrow. If you like what I’m doing here leave a comment or you can feed my caffeine habit and buy me a Ko-fi.

So, it is way past last Friday. Sorry about that, I’m not quite as on the way to catching up as I’d thought and last week was a mess.

Standard stuff, review is coming as are the articles I’m working on, work is a pain, and I am drained pretty constantly. Working past those last two, it’s slow and not fun but it needs doing.
