House Keeping 5/22/18

Short one this week, I don’t have a ton going on in light of the holiday weekend. I’m figuring most folks will be out doing family stuff, so extra blog posts would be better saved for later.

That said, I’ve got the Ghostbusters annual comic picked up, just a couple of months late, plus the first two issues of the Crossing Over mini to review at some point. With that, I’m planning on posting the reviews for all three on the same day, since the annual is pretty immediately followed by issue one.

It’s a little sad, I’m ahead on my reading a little bit, but haven’t had the time to get caught up with the reviewing bit. I’m going to need to just sit down and do them all at some point soon. I’ll be pretty fun actually, I just have to get started going and that’s where the problem lives. Getting started isn’t a thing I’m fantastic at.

Review is going to be a bit late this week. I’m going to have it up Thursday because tomorrow I’ll be getting my car out to the shop to be looked at and will be away from my computer because of that. The AC is busted, and that’s not a good thing with summer looming ever here-er.

Standard stuff then, if you like what I’m doing feel free to leave a like or a comment. It’s always good to see what folks like or not. And, if you really like what I’m doing, you can enable my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. I actually managed to spell caffeine right the first time that time, progress! And, as ever, enjoy!

So, last week just sort of never got off it’s feet. Not sure why, but I’ve been exhausted lately. Blame it on the weather getting too warm for my preferences.

As for plans for the week, I’m hoping that I can get the things I’d planned for last week covered this week. If I can manage that, I’m hoping to add a second review for this week, so that I’m not just skipping a week. No guarantees on that, but it’s worth giving a shot.

At some point, I might post some of my notes from my game group’s next campaign. It’s going to be my first time DMing and I’m a bit nervous about it. More than a bit nervous. So, I figure I might use a weekly post here to keep track of things that happen and where the story is going. It would likely be notes taken from my DMPC’s perspective. If I do this, I’ll announce it as part of the House Keeping the first week it goes up. I figure if nothing else it’ll be a good way to stretch my fiction writing a little.

That aside, I don’t really have anything more to add this week.

Standard stuff aside, of course. If you like what I’m doing here, feel free to leave a comment or a like. And if you really like what I’m doing you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi.

I continue to be behind on  everything. My attempts at getting an unboxing video done of the Second Star Books May box has left me scrambling a bit. My camera’s battery kept dying on me mid filming. So I’m going to wind up giving it another go tomorrow night and seeing if I can’t finish it. Failing that, I’ll see about covering the last couple of things and cleaning up what I’ve already got and then give editing the two parts together.

That said, I’m not sure when I’ll have the video for that posted. Same for the review of the box itself. I’m going to aim for the review to go up on Friday and the unboxing sometime over the weekend, but that’s reliant on my both getting the book review for this week done and on finishing the video. I’m having fun giving this a go, but it is a bit difficult with the gear I currently have.

Away from that, I’m excited for the book I’m reviewing this week. It isn’t a new new book, but a re-release with a new cover to celebrate a new follow up coming out.

That’s about it for this one. Standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing feel free to leave a like or a comment. And, if you really like what I’m doing you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi.  More stuff is coming up, so enjoy!

House Keeping 5/2/18

It’s May, that feels so weird to say. Like, April felt like it lasted for years while March only lasted a week.

Posting this late, though I should have the review up later today.

I feel like I’m actually making a little progress catching up on some of my reading, so that’s pretty great. With any luck I’ll be able to do more than one review a week some weeks. Failing that, it looks like I might finally be able to build myself something of a buffer. I’m more than a little happy with that.

Also, super exciting though in a different direction, despite being sick the past couple of weeks I had a bit of a wind fall and can put my money where my mouth is on the Second Star Books box. I’m definitely looking forward to that, and it should be mailing out soon. There will be words and maybe a video or something similar.

That’s about it for this one. I’m back to work, so I’m having a bit of an adjustment period getting back to it, but it feels nice to be doing something again.

Standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a like or comment. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here you can help feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In either case, review will be up later today. So, enjoy!

So, the week of being sick did not afford me as much time to get things done as I’d hoped for. Not terribly surprising all things considered. But still, all will be well. I’ve sort of got my voice back, so I’m headed back to retail world. Here’s hoping I don’t worry anyone.

I’ve got a review planned for tomorrow, it needs writing but I’ve finished reading the book itself. It might be a twisty thing of a review, since the book itself is something of a twisty thing. I’m looking forward to digging into my thoughts on it.

Also, my Unicorn Crate arrived yesterday, so I’ll have something on that going up later in the week. It’s pretty nice, I’d definitely buy another one sometime.

General things, comic reviews are still incoming. They kind of got pushed to the side again. I’m going to have to just sit down and get them done sometime soon, since the last What Dreams May Come issue is coming in soon. Kind of sad for that, though I am hoping that the team working on the Ghostbusters: Answer the Call comic is kept on for a full on going comic of the Answer the Call team. That would be pretty awesome.

Then, of course, standard stuff. If you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a like or comment. And if you really like what I’m doing here you can feed my caffeine addiction by buying me a ko-fi. Someday I’ll even manage to spell caffeine right the first time.

Guess who’s full on sick? It’s me. I have to have picked up something over the weekend. Good news is it seems to be on its way out. Bad news is it hasn’t quite finished packing yet. Either way.

That said, my review is likely to be late again. It shouldn’t be too late, probably just until Thursday.

Semi standard stuff, my Unicorn Crate is out for shipment, so that should be arriving soon. I’m pretty excited to see what they do with their boxes. I’ll likely do something with that when it arrives.

Comic reviews are still incoming, I am still desperately behind on those but might work on them some tomorrow while I’m resting. It’s going to be a long quiet day, hopefully I’ll get a number of things done.

And, of course, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. If you really like what I’m doing here, you can always enable my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. It’s essentially a three dollar donation to the “Lauren would really rather not be quite this worried about being sick” fund. Either way, more content incoming soon. Enjoy!

House Keeping 4/10/18

It’s been pretty quiet since I posted last week, so that’s good. I still need to catch up on my comic reviews, since I’m now two weeks behind on that, but I’m lined up to be caught up on my book reviews in a few weeks. That is to say, I’ve still got two books from March to catch up on and a number of ebooks that are either already out or coming really soon. There is no catching up, there is only trying. But I’m going to keep trying until the universe gives up and lets me get caught up anyway. Because I have apparently decided to be a comic book character.

Aside from that, yeah, I’m generally starting to feel a lot better. Not sure why, but I’m going to run with it as long as it lasts.

So, the website for Second Star Books website isn’t up just yet, so I’m not able to link it. That said, I’m going to go ahead and share the theme for their first book with you all.

May Theme Announcement

I’m planning on putting my money where my mouth is and ordering a box. It’ll be fun to see what all is included.

That’s about it. I’m planning on having a review up tomorrow some time and then the review for What Dreams May Come issue four later in the week. As always, if you like what I’m doing here, you can leave a like or a comment. If you really like what I’m doing, you can support my caffiene addiction and buy me a ko-fi. Enjoy your evening folks!

I’m still chugging on trying to get reviews up soon. I’m mostly done with a couple of them and I’ve definitely got one going up Wednesday. I’ve got this. Sort of. I feel like I’m working my way into a better place, I may slip back again later, but for now I’m feeling good.

Anyway, I’m really excited, Curiosity Quill Press recently OKed me to review a number of their up coming novels. This is the publisher for Dead Jack and the Pandemonium Device, which I adored, and the second Dead Jack book is one of the ones I’ll be reviewing. I do still have some stuff from March to finish up and I’m looking to work on that more now that I’ve got a little more time off once in awhile.

On to other things. Second Star Books has announced their theme for May’s box. I’ll be posting more on that later, once they have their website up. I’m thinking I’m going to order a box, I’ve been talking about them enough I figure I should put my money where my mouth is. Plus, I mean, nifty candle.

That’s about it for now.  If you like what I’m doing here comment or leave a like, I’m always looking to improve or just talk to people. Or, if you really like what I’m doing here, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a coffee. You can leave a comment there too. Either way, enjoy!

I’m slipping badly, aren’t I?

I’m trying, promise. It’s gotten way too easy to just not. Way too easy. And I hate that because I have swarms of ideas right until I sit down to write them. Then nothing, I can’t even write fragments. I also hate writing stuff like this because it feels too much like self pity.

So I’m going to have to figure a way to push through that.

The good news is, I’ve got another guest post coming up towards the end of the week. I really enjoyed reading it and I think you all will too.

There’s also still four days to enter the Second Star Books lifetime subscription giveaway. That’s one brand new novel from a new YA author, an additional book with a similar theme, a full sized 8oz candle specially made for the box, and extra goodies each month for the rest of your life. You can enter here. I’m definitely looking forward to checking out their boxes when they start running.

That kind of brings me to the end of it this week. I’m going to try and get back into the groove of things with reviews. The next few might be a little on the short side as a result. My comic shop went ahead and signed me up for the Ghostbusters: Crossing Over mini series. I actually picked up the first issue of that when I picked up issue four of What Dreams May Come, so I’ll do a review of that when I get the chance.

And anyway, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like, ask me questions if you want. Or if you really dig what I’m doing, you can support my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. That’s it for now. Enjoy!

So, that second review didn’t happen. I’m sorry about that. There were a couple of rough days at work and then I wound up having to get my car checked out. Fun times, fun times. But that’s mostly dealt with and the last bit I’ll be trying to get taken care of later this week.

That all said, I am going to be late with my review this week as well. I’m not nearly as prepared as I would like just at the moment. Working on it though.

Also, the fourth Answer the Call comic is set to come out this week, so barring anything going wrong I should have a review of that up sometime late this week too. It’s going into the final stretch so I’m really curious about what the big bad’s plan is and just what Holtzmann’s machine is meant to do, aside from scrambling eggs.

Aside from that, there’s still time to enter the Second Star Books lifetime subscription giveaway. You can find that here. If you missed my previous post about them, that’s here. I’m as excited about this as I was that book bundle, possibly more so.

And that’s that for this rather late house keeping post. I’m a bit out of sorts lately, but that’s manageable and I’m figuring out what to do about it. If you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. If you really like what I’m doing here you can always feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. Either way, enjoy!
