House Keeping 7/17/19

Hey all, sorry about the non-starter of a week. I’ve been feeling ill the last few days, so nothing’s gotten done. Deeply unfortunate, but a thing that happens from time to time.

Just now, I’m planning on having the “Sunshine’s Journal” post up for tomorrow and then treating the rest of the week as a wash. That means that we’re going to start back on Monday with the usual dice review and roll from there.

Standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In either case, have a great rest of the week!

So, this week has been kind of a non-starter. I’ve been a little busy with things around the house and things for the blog have slipped a bit. I have been learning fun crafty things, so very much worth it. I’ve used a sewing machine for the first time since middle school. The dice bag I made turned out well, no extraneous holes and the seams were mostly straight. And I finally relearned hairpin lace crocheting, with luck I’m hoping to have my starter project a good enough chunk of the way done that I can also learn to connect finished rows.

As to things for the blog, I’m planning on having a book review done for tomorrow and I’m going to move the dice review for this week to Friday, so that’s still on the docket just not on its usual day.

Also, cat blob featuring that dice bag I made.

I should probably try making them in more colors, but they still turn out pretty cute this way.

That’s about it for this week. “Sunshine’s Journal” post is finally going up again Thursday, but that’s about it.

So, standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. I’m kind of thinking of posting the occasional crafty picture, like the cat blob or once I get the hairpin lace done more. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In either case, have a great rest of the week!

Ever find yourself making excuses to put a book down, not because it’s bad, but because there’s something awful coming. There’s something awful coming and you know it, and you know the author has the skill to make it fantastic, but it’s going to hurt.

Yeah.

I’m sitting there on the book I’m reading now. I fully trust that the author is going to do something amazing with the last bit of this book. I’m sure that the ending is going to be satisfying. That it’s going to work really well. But it looks like amazing is also going to be terrible for the characters. Like any victory the protagonists eek out will be so Pyrrhic it hardly counts.

It really excites me, but I’m still wimping out for now.

Speaking of wimping out. I haven’t abandoned the “Sunshine’s Journals” posts, we’ve just had another week of not playing due to people being absent. I should have it up either this Thursday or next Thursday.

I don’t have a ton going on other than that. There’s a couple of things I’m working on getting outlined, things I want to try. The usual there.

Mostly I’ve been stress crocheting cat blobs.

But stress is temporary, and if I can get things worked out. Actually get things in line on life stuff. That’ll be a start.

The cat blobs help too though.

So, standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. Little things, tell me if you want to see the blob cats or if you’re just waiting for the next Journal entry. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In either case, have a great rest of the week!

So, the con was fun.

I finally have a dice tray and, thanks to Infinite Black running a special deal for Birmingham, a play mat. So I might start using one or both of those and filming my dice test rolls. It’d be kind of fun to ramble about the dice as I’m testing them. Not really a thing I’m finding super necessary lately, most dice sets I’ve gotten are pretty balanced. All the same, I know that’s a thing that can be a concern especially with more reasonably priced dice.

Jumping to the side of that, I should have a review done for Wednesday. Standard stuff there. It’s one that I’m really enjoying, but that also has some weird spots. Little stuff mostly.

I need to double check my notes for the “Sunshine’s Journal” post for this week with my DM. Spelling stuff mostly, but also we kind of ended the session still in a goblin pit with goblins still in it. Remember kids, when adventuring safety first is an optional rule.

But that should be about it.

Standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here, feel free to leave a comment or a like. I feed on attention and it makes me likely to try new things rather than just talking about them. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. After people-ing for a full three days, I could use the caffeine. In either case, have a great rest of the week!

Heads Up

Sorry for running late all. I gave myself a head ache working in the garden yesterday and got nothing else done. I have, however, cleared a good chunk of my Mom’s herb bed, cleared the back yard stairs, and potted tomatoes.

I’m happy with that.

But, due to that and being a bit busy today, I’ve only got the review partially finished and no “Sunshine’s Journal” post for this week.

So, my plan right now is to have the book review up tomorrow and see about posting the “Sunshine’s Journal” post next Thursday.

Same as usual, not a ton here this week.

Dice Envy still has their PRIDE promo code thing going to benefit My Friend’s House. Definitely give that a check.

There’s still a number of stops on the North of the Rock blog tour, including the guest post for it this Friday. That’s worth a check and so are the other stops. I’m sure they’d appreciate if more folks stopped by.

I’ll have a review for you all up on Wednesday. I’m thinking that I’ll want to talk about some of the stuff from this book later on. Sort of a matter of things that didn’t work for me and things that really did feeling interestingly balanced.

There should be a “Sunshine’s Journal” post this week, though there won’t be one next week. Game night is on pause for this week due to Magic City Con.

I’m bouncing around the idea of talking about things from the con Sunday night. Or maybe next Thursday in the “Sunshine’s Journal” spot. It seems like something that could be fun, could work with some of the stuff I’ve been talking about lately.

And that’s about it!

Standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. I feed on that kind of thing. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In either case, have a great rest of the week!

Handful of things to cover this week.

Dice Envy is running a thing this month where if you use the promo code PRIDE, they’ll donate 20% of your purchase to My Friend’s Place which is a Los Angeles non-profit that helps homeless youth, around 40% of whom are LGBT. They actually made a blog post of their own about that, you can find it here.

Kracken Dice is also doing a charity event for Pride. They’re running a number of auctions for rare or one of a kind dice, the money raised from that plus a matching amount of up to $5,000 will be donated to the Trevor Project. Their post and the links to the auctions can be found at this link. In addition to that, they’re also selling sets of their Over the Rainbow 2 dice at $30 per with all of the revenue from that also going to the Trevor Project.

Much like the last couple of weeks, I’m not going to have a “Sunshine’s Journal” post for this week. We didn’t have game this past week due to a number of things. With luck, we should be back to adventures in Fortress politics and Goblin murder next week.

Book review will be up Wednesday. I’m hoping to get another one prepared so that I have a flex week if I need one later, but we’ve seen how well that works. We’ll see.

And that should be about it!

Standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here, feel free to leave a comment or a like. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. I also have a referral link for Dice Envy if you want to use that, but do remember the PRIDE promo code more than that. In any case, have a great rest of the week!

Not doing a ton out of the ordinary this week.

Much like last week, I don’t have a “Sunshine’s Journal” post for this week. We sort of missed meeting up a couple of weeks in a row. Next week should have one though, so no worries.

Going to be reviewing two sets of dice next week, since they seem to be different colors from the same listing. That shouldn’t change things too much, just a little longer spent talking about the color. General fun stuff. I’m excited for the week after that though.

I’m hoping to have a review done for tomorrow. I’m mostly through the book, it’s just taking a little longer than I’d expected. I might have to sub in something else and post the review later in the week. Either way, it should be up sometime this week no problem.

College is getting pushed back until fall term, so hopefully I can be better prepared then.

And that’s about it, unless you all want me to start talking about the goblins I’ve been crocheting. They’re friendly little oddballs, but not exactly what I think any of you are here for.

So, yeah, standard things. If you like what I’m doing here, feel free to leave a comment or a like. Or, if you really like what I’m doing here, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In any case, have a great rest of the week and happy Pride!

Nothing really to say this week. I’m still picking away at both getting a book review written and getting financial aid in order so I can go back to school. There’s dice on the way thanks to a lucky break and the Dice Envy affiliate program.

Things are going pretty much as usual.

I’ve been feeling kind of mopey lately, I admit. It’s a little like, there’s a million things I need to get done or want to get done or just could do. But it gets a little overwhelming. So I sit and watch videos or I nap or I start another crafting project and I wind up ignoring all the other things.

It’s something I need to work on. Actual work on, not just say that I’m going to and then let it slide.

But, all that aside, there’s a guest post coming this Friday.

I’m going to get a review done again eventually.

Everything else is just details.

So, standard stuff, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. I’ve branched out a bit and want to see what people think once I’ve got everything balanced out. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. In either case, have a great rest of the week!

I’m running late on everything this week. What’s new?

I got the chance to go to a Renaissance Faire this weekend and was painfully reminded that the sun and I don’t get along. It was fun! I got to see friends that live away from the rest of my social group and a lot of really fantastic costumes.

The dice review of the week’s going to go up later today. It’s mostly done, I just didn’t get it finished yesterday.

Book review eventually. I swear, I’ve got more than one that’s in the process of being finished. I’ve just hit that point where nothing about them seems good enough and I can’t exactly convince myself that good enough is good enough.

It’s bad.

But, that’s the state of things for me right now.

Still working on getting financial aid to go back to school. I’ve been accepted, I just need a way to pay for everything. That’s another thing to work on today.

And that’s about it. My car’s back in working order. Most of my stuff just needs finishing. And financial aid is a list of things away from being, hopefully, worked out.

So, standard stuff. If you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. And, of course, if you really like what I’m doing here you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. It’s a $3 weekly reminder that I still can’t spell caffeine correctly on the first try.
