House Keeping 7/17/18

This is late and I’m late and it feels a touch like everything is sliding out of control again. That’s life though, right? Not sure what my excuse of the week is but, trust me, it’s a good one.

While I missed the review for last week I am planning on having one up this week. I should be able to get things leveled out a bit soon.

That said, as soon as I can reasonably make time I’m going to grab a copy of Seanan McGuire’s The Girl in the Green Silk Gown. As much as I enjoyed Sparrow Hill Road I’ve been super excited to get my hands on the sequel and it just came out today.

I’m also thinking of going ahead and finishing and posting some of the comparison work ideas I’ve been bouncing around here. Since I can’t do anything with videos yet and I don’t want them to get stale.

For now though, that’s about it. It’s been a busy, weirdly stressful past few weeks, and I’m hoping that this is where I start climbing out of that.

Standard stuff at the end here. If you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like. If you really like what I’m doing here, you can feed my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. Anything from that is going towards replacing my video camera. So, that’s that, have a good week and enjoy!

Quick Note

This review is killing my ability to write anything, so it’s going to be later than it already is. I’m getting the words equivalent of cabin fever here, so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get a bunch done once I’m done with this one.

Sorry for the delay all.

I’m slipping badly, aren’t I?

I’m trying, promise. It’s gotten way too easy to just not. Way too easy. And I hate that because I have swarms of ideas right until I sit down to write them. Then nothing, I can’t even write fragments. I also hate writing stuff like this because it feels too much like self pity.

So I’m going to have to figure a way to push through that.

The good news is, I’ve got another guest post coming up towards the end of the week. I really enjoyed reading it and I think you all will too.

There’s also still four days to enter the Second Star Books lifetime subscription giveaway. That’s one brand new novel from a new YA author, an additional book with a similar theme, a full sized 8oz candle specially made for the box, and extra goodies each month for the rest of your life. You can enter here. I’m definitely looking forward to checking out their boxes when they start running.

That kind of brings me to the end of it this week. I’m going to try and get back into the groove of things with reviews. The next few might be a little on the short side as a result. My comic shop went ahead and signed me up for the Ghostbusters: Crossing Over mini series. I actually picked up the first issue of that when I picked up issue four of What Dreams May Come, so I’ll do a review of that when I get the chance.

And anyway, if you like what I’m doing here feel free to leave a comment or a like, ask me questions if you want. Or if you really dig what I’m doing, you can support my caffeine addiction and buy me a ko-fi. That’s it for now. Enjoy!

Review Postponement

Hey all, like the title says, this week’s review is going to be late. It already is, but still, more so. I’d had a massive headache yesterday and wound up going to bed more or less immediately after work and then today my head is full of cotton.

I have a lot to talk about with this book and don’t want to do a half effort review just to get it out on time, so I’m going to see if I can work some stuff out tomorrow and then I’ll post it some time Saturday.  That should let me work out what I want to say without just rambling about a topic and a half for the entire run of the review.

Sorry about the delay.

So, I feel vaguely undead. It’s super fun, totally.

No review so far this week. With luck, I’ll have one finished for you all tomorrow night.

I have a plan for what I want to have a review of next week, just as a matter of it fits the season. Also, it’s one of my favorite books to read this time of year.

Much like the last couple reviews, the article kind of things I’m wanting to write are still in the works. I have a lot of things I need to sort through on those and not a ton of time for sorting. There’s a couple of things I’ve got blocked out at the moment, so that’s a start at least.

Today is the last day to get the December Too Much Monday box guaranteed by Christmas, if any of you were looking at doing that for gifts. It’s available through this link and, as always, the code Tympest will get you 10% off.

And, of course, if you like what I’m doing here, leave a comment below or you can buy me a ko-fi and help fuel my poor caffeine ravaged brain meats. Enjoy!

Quick Thing

I messed up pretty badly. The graphic novel I was going to review for yesterday doesn’t come out until next week. So I’m moving that review to then. But that left me with nothing for this week so I wound up missing yesterday. It’s going to be late, but I’m going to have a review posted today.  It was something I was planning on doing a little later, but I think you all will enjoy it. Best!

House Keeping 5/16/17

What a clever title. I know I mentioned like two weeks ago that this was coming. I’m trying not to drop off the map again, and I should have something for you all by the end of the week, but that’s “trying” and “should” and we all know how that works out.

Part of the issue is me not really knowing how to approach some of the newer stuff I’ve got. I’ve got a lot of comics to cover and no real experience working with them, so I’m hitting stumbling blocks there. The bigger thing is that I’m back in school part time and trying to devote enough time to it that I don’t drop out again. Fun times that. Plus, of course, standard life stuff and work stress. Because class I’m not getting as many hours at work and that’s a whole ton of not good.

Long story short, I’m at a bit of a loss on what I’m doing but I’m going to try charging on anyway.

So, Words Again

As I continue my quest for a steady posting schedule I find myself failing again and again. I’ve spent the day reading the book I’m posting a review of and trying to get some things sorted out. That hasn’t been real successful, but hey, adulting isn’t really about succeeding in my experience so much as keeping going.

So yeah, review should be up tomorrow evening. Unless something terrible happens and I’m stuck home because of the weather or something, then it’ll probably be earlier. Either that or I’ll just post the spider dance gif with no other explanation.

I’m having a bit of trouble with this one for a few reasons, but it’ll all come out in the wash. Might have some stuff going on on another blog soon. Nothing big, just building a character for an upcoming game my group is going to run. It should be fun writing exercise though.

Postponement

Hey all. I’m going to be late with my review this week, it is still coming but it’s not going to drop until Friday or Saturday. It’s just kind of been a week and if I finished it now I’d be necessarily rough on the book and I don’t want to do that.

So that’s the bad news, the good news is that I’ve got some really cool books lined up for review in the next couple months. That’s more than kind of exciting, I think. I’m also going to be trying to post more, I’ve gone slack on that again.

You may get innundated with stuff about my garden in a couple weeks. I’ve restarted the beans and have some tomato and basil seeds going. Really looking forward to that.

But, yeah, I’ll have things to say in a couple days. See you all then.

So I Fell Off the World

Being gone since the first has not been intentional, as you all may have guessed. I’ve fallen into something of a weird place with reading where I’ve read several books and loads and loads of fanfic, and then just haven’t gotten around to wording about it. At least, I haven’t gotten around to wording about it online. I’m rather certain my roommates are tired of hearing about how fantastic that one fic is or how that novella could have done so much better if.

I’m going to work on fixing that, so you can all share in their torment.

Add on to that, I feel like I want to do a break down of the Fear Street Saga trilogy some time. Not another review mind, that would be a bit odd, just another going over going deeper into some of the issues I had with the books. Sort of a “I mentioned this but” thing.

Also, the Arcanium Unbounded review is still coming. So’s Christmas, but hey. My goal is to have that up within the week, so if I’m gone for another twenty days that’s what’s up.
