Category: Giveaway

Hello all! I’m running a little late getting this up, sorry about that, but there were two winners for the Halloween Dice Giveaway!

Lizz Smith, you’ve won the Dice Vault.

corkedbottle, you’ve won the set of Absinthe Glow dice.

Congratulations both of you!

If you could get back to me with an email so that I can get in touch to work out getting your prizes shipped out, that would be much appreciated.

It’s getting to that time of the year when spooky things of all varieties spill out into the world. The veil between worlds thins. Scary movies are all stocked in the Red Box and on streaming services. And the local book store remembers that horror is in fact a genre. All well and good. Those things make the season all the more interesting. But they aren’t what we’re here for just now. Right?

I have a treat for you all.

Thanks to the nice folks at Dice Envy I have so many sets of dice and an awesome dice vault waiting to be won. Some of them I’ve reviewed already, others are coming up.

Let’s check them out!

From the top: Confetti Dice, Hylian Infinity d4, Magic Missile Infinity d4, Absinthe Glow Dice.

Following those lot, I’ve got a bit of a trick for you all.

Mystry Bags HGW

Mystery Dice bags! I enjoy the surprise of things like this and figured it would be fun to see if anyone wanted to give these a shot.

And, of course, the Dice Vault. This one is sandalwood and it looks fantastic!

Dice Vault HGW

How can you enter to win one of these sets of dice or the dice vault?

Simple as possible. Just follow my blog here and post a comment on this post. Tell me about what your table top group does for Halloween sessions or, if they don’t do anything like that, tell me about your favorite spooky moment in one of the games you’ve played in.

Standard stuff, I can only ship within the United States. This giveaway is going to run from when it goes live until 11:59 central time on Halloween night. So that’s one week.

Good luck!

Alright everyone! How’s your morning? Not started yet? Night not ended yet? Either works, both are fine, because here’s where I give you all the link to a fantastic giveaway courtesy of the folks at Berkley Publishing. You’ve got 24-hours from the start of today to midnight on the 28th to enter for a chance at a physical copy of  Kali Wallace’s up coming novel Salvation Day. I’m not sure what I’m expecting from this book, could be zombies in space, could be a horrifying man made disease, but I’m excited to find out. It’s worth taking a shot in any case, so here’s the link.

Salvation Day cover

They thought the ship would be their salvation.

Zahra knew every detail of the plan. House of Wisdom, a massive exploration vessel, had been abandoned by the government of Earth a decade earlier, when a deadly virus broke out and killed everyone on board in a matter of hours. But now it could belong to her people if they were bold enough to take it. All they needed to do was kidnap Jaswinder Bhattacharya—the sole survivor of the tragedy, and the last person whose genetic signature would allow entry to the spaceship.

But what Zahra and her crew could not know was what waited for them on the ship—a terrifying secret buried by the government. A threat to all of humanity that lay sleeping alongside the orbiting dead.

And then they woke it up.

I’m down to the wire on getting this posted on Saturday. Sorry about that, I scheduled badly.

But! Here’s the important part! I’ve got two winners for the dice giveaway.

Goldiefc8, you’ve won the Confetti Dice.

drakedourden, you’ve won the Tombstone Bone dice.

Congratulations to both of you!

Shoot me a message in the next few days with a way to get in touch with you and I’ll get your new dice on the way!

Right! So, Dice Envy likes to see their dice in the hands of people who will use them regularly. Thanks to them, I’ve been able to review some really nifty dice this past month. And I appreciate that a lot, it’s been something I found myself looking forward to.

So, it only made sense then to celebrate my birthday by sharing the awesome dice they’ve sent me with you all. Bonus here, they were willing to provide a set of the Confetti Dice for this giveaway, so that’s each set from this past month.

Giveaway 1

So, what does it take to get your hands on one of these sets?

Simple as ever, just follow my blog and post a comment here with which set you want to enter for and telling me about your favorite table top character. Doesn’t matter if they’re from Dungeons and Dragons, Starfinder, World of Darkness, or any other system. I just want to hear about them!

And, of course, the frame work bits.

I’ll be running the giveaway here from today, Friday, May 3rd, until midnight Eastern Time on Friday, May the 17th.

Winners will be selected on the 17th using a random number generator and announced on Saturday, May 18th. I’ll have a post for that then.

Winners will need to be comfortable sharing their email and mailing address with me. Neither will be posted here, I just need them to get your dice to you.

Unfortunately, I can only ship the dice within the United States.

And that, should be that! I’m excited to see where this goes and to hear about you all’s characters. Best of luck every one!

Edit for clarification: I tried to hard to make things sound good and didn’t words well enough. I’m wanting to hear about characters you all have played and enjoyed. Like my favorite TTRPG character so far has been my Drow sniper, Celestine, from a couple of campaigns ago. Total Widowmaker rip-off, but she was a lot of fun to play off of the wackier characters the rest of my group rolled up. That said, if you haven’t played any table top games before, characters from Critical Role or other media like that are fine. Just tell me about them, because I’m not super familiar with any of those characters.

Odd Voice Out Giveaway

So, my review of Fallow Heart went live yesterday. Here’s where the fun comes in for you guys. I’ve got an ebook copy each of both K. C. Finn’s Fallow Heart and Kell Cowley’s Shrinking Sinking Land up for grabs to two lucky winners. On top of that I’m trying something new, this time I’m trying out rafflecopter, so that means plenty of choices for entering.

Odd Voice Out Giveaway

The giveaway is going to run from today until April the fourth.

Since these are Ebooks winners do not have to be from the US. Though the winners will need to be comfortable with my sharing their email with Odd Voice Out.

So, check it out and have a great weekend!

Last Call

It’s the last day for entries in the 2018 Books I Dig Giveaway. Remember, entries end at midnight central time tonight.

One last time, the books up for giveaway are:

K. C. Alexander’s Necrotech: A gut punch of solid writing and a really interesting read.

Necrotech cover

Edgar Cantero’s Meddling Kids: The meeting of Lovecraftian horror and Mystery’s Inc. that hits a ton of nostalgia points.

Meddling Kids cover

And, of course, Seanan McGuire’s Sparrow Hill Road: A series of stories about a ghost, the Phantom Prom Date, in her own words.

Sparrow Hill Road cover

All three books have been five star reads for me as well as being books that I would talk about ad infinitum if prompted. They’re also all three signed by the author.

So, if you want the chance to win one of these books, follow this blog and either hit the link up above and answer the question there or answer the question here. Dealer’s choice on that.

Question is, what’s your favorite end of the year tradition? Alternatively, what did you most enjoy reading this year?

Winners will be picked using random.com and announced tomorrow, January 1st.

I’m also only able to ship to winners in the United States.

I’ve mentioned something that I’m super excited about a few times in the past couple of weeks. This is that. See, there were a number of books this year that I really enjoyed and really want to share with you all. So, three readers are going to win one of three books that I’ve either reviewed this year or that come from a series I’ve reviewed this year.

Cool, right? Let’s make it even more fun, all three books are going to be signed by the author. So, what are the books I’ve decided excited me the most this year, the books I am so ready to share with all of you?

Well, there’s the first book in a series I talked about a bunch of times back during the Fall Into Books challenge. K. C. Alexander’s Necrotech. I still want to talk about these books anytime I’m given the chance and probably will.

Necrotech cover

And, as much as I enjoy a good cyberpunk story, let’s add a ghost story to this list. Let’s talk about a hitchhiker who’s been wondering America’s roadways since she was killed, the girl in the green silk gown. Sparrow Hill Road by Seanan McGuire, a book that left me hunting the sequel through a number of bookstores.

Then let’s follow up the ghost story with a nice Saturday morning cosmic horror story. Those kids and their dog have been waiting an awfully long time to solve that last mystery, the one that split them up and left them broken. Edgar Cantero’s Meddling Kids. This is another one that I still want to talk more about, so look forward to that.

So, rules and whatnot. How can you get your hands on one of these awesome stories?

Sometime between now and when the giveaway closes at midnight central time on December 31st, you’ll need to follow this blog and then comment below.

As to what you should comment about, let’s make it thematic. The year is coming to a close, tell me about your favorite reads of the year. And, of course, which book you want or your order of preferences on which books you want.

You’ll also need to live in the continental US and be comfortable with sending me your mailing address after winners are announced. I’ll be using random.com to choose winners for the sake of fairness and that announcement is going to come January 1st by midnight.

Good luck!

I mentioned this back during the house keeping post this week, but I wanted to go a little more in on it and on Second Star Books itself. Reiterating things a little to start, just in case anyone missed it.

Second Star Books Header

Second Star Books is opening shop come April and I figure it would be pretty cool to tell you all a little more about them. Each box contains a hard cover book from a debut YA author, that’s the focus of the box. Then there will also be a second book that is themed similarly to the first and an 8 oz. candle crafted to go with both books. Each box will also contain other related goodies.

I’m really excited by the idea of being introduced to a new author each month, especially given my tendency to lock into a set of authors and not really try anyone new. More than that, I dig that Second Star Books is going to donate a book for every box sold to kids in need. They will be working with both established literary charities and underprivileged schools. That’s something I definitely plan on throwing in behind Second Star for.

Really cool, right? This is where I tell you about the giveaway part. The folks behind Second Star Books are also super excited about the monthly box starting up and they want to share that with bookish types all over. Running until the box goes live on the first of April they have a giveaway, one lucky human will win a lifetime subscription to Second Star Books. That’s right, not a month free or an x month subscription free, but a lifetime subscription. If that sounds as awesome to you all as it does to me, I’ve got the link for you here.

Good luck!
